76. James Triantos, SS/RHP, Madison HS
R-R, 6-1/195, McLean, Va.
College Commitment:North Carolina

Triantos was initially a member of the prep class of 2022, earning a nod to the 14U PG Select Festival a few years ago, but reclassified up to 2021 last fall just in time to play as a senior in the WWBA World Championship. The bat is the loudest tool here, with strength and bat speed combining to give him pretty loud raw power at present, and scouts are optimistic on Triantos achieving both above-average hit and power tools long term. He plays short now but will move to 3B eventually, where his plus arm plays well and he’s more athletically-suited to third than short anyways. The arm is important to keep in mind, as Triantos gets up to 96 mph with flashes of a plus breaker on the bump now as well, and though scouts overwhelmingly prefer him as a bat right now, there are some who see a power-armed big league reliever rather than a power-armed big league third baseman.
