Don't look now, but the first day of May is tomorrow, and with the final Top 25 update through the month of April during the 2018 college baseball season the Florida Gators remain as the nation's No. 1 team. While they lost a mid-week contest for the second week in a row, they took down another formidable SEC foe. This time it was Auburn, and it began with a pitcher's duel between two promising draft-eligible righthanders that saw Brady Singer get the best of Casey Mize. Auburn took game two to force Saturday's series-deciding contest.

In fact, 13 ranked teams faced rubber matches in their third and final games of the weekend, and there were a few key upsets near the top of the Top 25, including one just behind the Gators.

Previously second-ranked NC State was swept, at home, by a surging North Carolina club. UNC fell out of the rankings in mid-March and were re-introduced a couple of weeks ago, as it took them some time to start living up to their lofty preseason billing. While the Wolfpack did go 0-3 on the week they were not penalized too harshly considering this was their first weekend loss of the year. The Tar Heels on the other hand enjoyed the biggest jump in the Top 25, moving seven spots from 18 to 11.

Stanford re-claimed the No. 2 spot with their Pac-12 rival Oregon State climbing just behind them. The two programs will square off a week from this coming weekend, May 11-13.

Texas Tech, which lost to TCU, and East Carolina, who were swept by Houston, are two more previously top 10-ranked teams that lost their weekend series. While the Red Raiders remain in the top 10 at No. 8, ECU now is ranked 15th and have some work to do if they still hope to host a Regional.

New to the rankings are Minnesota and Oklahoma State at Nos. 19 and 21, respectively. Minnesota has been patiently waiting for their opportunity to enter the rankings, beating Iowa last week and Ohio State this week, while Oklahoma swept previously-ranked Oklahoma in their annual Bedlam Series. Minnesota hosts Illinois this coming weekend while Oklahoma State will be at another Big Ten locale in Iowa City for a non-conference weekend series against the Hawkeyes.

As a result of being swept over the weekend Oklahoma fell out of the rankings this week. The same is true of Florida Atlantic, who lost their series to UAB, which followed a mid-week loss to FGCU.
