Lots of shifting occurred near the top of the Perfect Game/Rawlings National High School Top 50 as there is a new No. 1 team in the land for the third time this season. After falling to the eventual champion, and the new No. 3 team in the country, Orange Lutheran (Calif.), Calvary Christian Academy (Fla.) slides to No. 5 overall. Lake Travis (Texas) and Blessed Trinity (Ga.) each jumped up one spot each to Nos. 4 and 2, respectively. 

Calvary Christian (Fla.) is the new No. 1 team as they have still yet to drop a game in over a year and a half. Head coach Greg Olsen's squad is 15-0 to start 2018, but will face tough assignments later on in the season as they look to make it two consecutive perfect seasons with a national championship. 

Orange Lutheran has the most talent on paper to be the top team in the country and showed exactly why that is the case during their championship run at the NHSI event. Starter Cole Winn set the tone early for the Lancers as they exploded on a talented Florence (Ala.) team to win game one. A lot of offensive contributors made a significant impact which included sophomore outfielder Chad Born as well as shortstop and team captain Zach Lew. Max Rajcic was also a significantly intriguing player as he tossed a masterful shutout while sitting 90-93 mph in game two. 

The new rankings for some of the other teams that participated at the NHSI event are as follows: No. 5 Calvary Christian Academy, No. 15 American Heritage (Fla.), No. 18 Hattiesburg (Miss.), No. 22 John Curtis Christian (La.) and new entry in No. 46 Green Hope (N.C.), who made an impressive run all the way to the championship round of the event. 

The Southern California edition of the Boras Classic will be played this week and there are several Top 50 teams participating including No. 3 Orange Lutheran, No. 7 Notre Dame (Calif.), No. 19 Huntington Beach (Calif.) and No. 41 Harvard-Westlake (Calif.). No. 24 Valley Christian Schools (Calif.) will be playing at the National Classic, which is also being held in Southern California this week.

This week features a ton of top-level talent competing against each other so the rankings are sure to look significant different at this time next week. This week the new members of the National High School Top 50 are as follows: No. 31 Bellarmine College Prep (Calif.), No. 40 La Cueva (N.M.), No. 44 Brighton (Tenn.), No. 46 Green Hope (N.C.) and No. 47 Har-Ber (Ark.).

April 14th Perfect Game/Player of the Week:  Jaquae Stewart, INF/OF, Texas State  The Texas State Bobcats (24-12) are sitting in second place in the ultra-competitive Sun Belt Conference, and they have one of the most explosive offenses in the country.  They average right at 8-runs per game and can slug with the best of them, averaging almost 2-home runs per game as well.  Sitting in the middle of the order, Jaquae Stewart, is putting together a career year and is becoming the focus of opposing teams.  The 5-10/234 junior from Sinton, Tx is your classic lefthanded power hitter and is thriving in his move from Austin to San Marcos.  While it wasn’t the best week for his club, Stewart was sensational, collecting 8 hits in his 19 at-bats, scoring 5 runs, launching 5 home runs and driving in an insane 17 runs.  For the season, he is now slashing...

PG has announced the dates for Prospect Gateway events across the country - unique opportunities for young players to receive professional feedback and prepare for the next level. The Prospect Gateways are for players ages 13U-14U and serve as a qualifier for the National Showcase. Kevin Schuver, the senior director of showcases at Perfect Game, said these events are chances for players to step out of their comfort zone and show what they’re really made of. “Perfect Game Prospect Gateways aren’t just events.
