LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2007 National Showcase
Sean Flanagan is a 2008 OF/SS/P with a 6'2'', 185 lb. frame from Downers Grove, IL who attends Downers Grove North HS. He has a lean, athletic build with good strength projection. Flanagan is a live bodied athlete who moves easily and runs 6.73 in the 60. Coming into the showcase the word was that Flanagan had a plus to plus/plus arm. His throws from the outfield were not the best we had seen from him but showed good carry. He was 85-87 mph from the mound with a big but slow curveball. Offensively, Flanagan has a highly unusual hitting approach but it seems to work well for him. He starts with low hands in his set up. He has an upper cut swing plane at times and a pull approach to the ball. He shows very good bat speed, and hit the ball well in games against some top level pitching while making good swing adjustments. He might hit a lot of fly balls with this approach but he squares up enough to think that it might work well for him. Flanagan has tools and projects nicely. He is a good student and has a verbal commitment to Iowa.
