Matthew Duras is a 2025 1B/RHP with a 6-2 195 lb. frame from Oyster Bay, NY who attends St. Anthony's. Sturdy frame with present strength, broad shoulders with time and room to add additional size with time. Primary position 1B, showing some quickness to his first step and moving well on his feet. Seems comfortable around the bag with clean footwork and solid feel with the glove. Uses deeper funnel to transition to throws where he made accurate throws up to 76 mph across the diamond. Secondary RHP, using a big side step to lead to deliberate leg lift just above the belt. Stationary hands at the belt to medium inline arm path and accelerating through a 3/4 arm angle. Competes in the zone, repeating quite well and worked mainly off his mid-70s FB showing subtle sink. Also showed feel for a SL in the upper-60s tunneled well with his fastball. RHH getting into his legs and using a balanced stance to get ready pre-pitch. Good handset getting into the slot and uses turned in shoulders to load and stay on the ball. Swing will get a bit steep here and there but when on plane ball jumped with low, line drive impact. Strength in hands with middle fo the field approach. Good student as well.
