2021 WWBA Workout Showcase (July 14)
Abel Messer is a 2023 OF/RHP, 1B with a 6-2 140 lb. frame from Linden, NC who attends Pine Forest. Recorded a 7.74 second sixty-yard dash time. Long, lean frame with plenty of room and time to add strength. Primary outfielder with aggressive actions into the fielding process, smooth funnel off his front foot and well maintained momentum through release. Works slightly uphill into the throwing motion, using a longer arm action to record online, accurate throws up to 78 mph during drills. Left-handed hitter that hits from a slightly closed stance with a tight hand set, high back elbow and slight toe-tap trigger. Incorporates rotational mechanics to get to launch, while trying to create lift out in front. Lofted stroke with long, linear swing path and developing feel for the barrel. At his best, when he stays to middle-of-the field and stays inside the baseball. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and additional strength. Solid defender with upside and projection remaining. Excellent Student.
