Garrett Simmons is a 2023 LHP/OF with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Collierville, TN who attends Briarcrest Christian. Young athletic build with plenty of room to get stronger. Graded out better as an outfielder at this event. Left handed hitter, hits from a narrow slightly open stance, good lower half actions moving into his swing, good swing mechanics and some bat speed, especially when pulling the ball, ball comes off the barrel well. 7.99 runner in the sixty. Got nice jumps on the ball in the outfield and closed on balls well, fields the ball cleanly out front and makes accurate throws with developing carry. Has a simple delivery on the mound, pauses at the top to let his arm catch up, short and compact arm action that hides the ball well, 3/4's arm slot. Fastball topped out at 71 mph with some cutting action. Curveball had some shape at higher velocities and he landed the pitch consistently. Worked mostly arm side with both pitches. Elite level student.
