2021 WWBA Workout Showcase (July 14)
Luke Elkins is a 2024 SS/3B with a 5-9 165 lb. frame from Bartlett, TN who attends Harding Academy Of Memphis. Recorded a 8.02 second sixty-yard dash time. Medium, compact frame with plenty of time and room to fill out. Primary infielder with smooth, proper footwork into the fielding process that allows for him to funnel cleanly out in front and work through the baseball. Displayed some lateral range to either side, working into a longer arm action to throw. Recorded accurate throws up to 68 mph across the diamond. Will continue to improve with additional arm strength and refinement of his skill set. Right-handed hitter that hits from an even, bent knee stance with a high hand set, high back elbow and leg lift trigger. Incorporates big weight shift forward and rotational lower half mechanics into contact. Hands drive swing with slightly downhill swing path, developing bat-to-ball skills and some feel for the barrel. Middle-to-opposite field approach with quick wrists and occasional line drive impact. Developing prospect with plenty of projection remaining, will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and additional strength. Excellent Student.
