Benjamin Bernard is a 2027 SS/RHP/C with a 5-7 145 lb. frame from Cary, NC who attends Green Level. Compact build with sturdy frame and plenty of time to add overall size and physicality. Ran the 60 yard dash in a solid 7.31 seconds. Primary position IF, using choppy steps to create his angles and timing as he works through the ball. Works the glove well, it's accurate and secures the ball nicely. Quick arm with high effort on throws but a bit wild today reaching 78 mph across the diamond. Reps in OF and behind the plate as well. Similar actions from the outfield showing a more deliberate transfer and arm played better here with accurate throws at 80 mph. Offset start from behind the plate with solid footwork and quick midline transfer to a pop-time best 2.13 seconds. Secondary RHP, with good presence on the mound. Full windup with quick cadence to his delivery, using abbreviated leg lift below the belt. Works down the mound with aggression, building his FB up to 80 mph with good ride through the zone. Tunneled his CB well with good spin traits in the 70 mph range. Has the look of a back end of the bullpen guy. RHH working from a wider stance and small heel lift trigger to start. Lays barrel flat over shoulder before accelerating to contact. A bit of length in his swing currently but shows good hand speed and will really play well once he shortens up. Swings with intent and showed pull side loft with future power projection. Does it all on the field, so it will be interesting to see where his talent takes him.
