2006 Nor Cal Underclass Showcase
Zac Kornberg is a 2008 C/1B/SS with a 5'9'', 185 lb. frame from San Francisco CA, who attends San Francisco University HS. He has a strong, compact, somewhat stocky build. Kornberg stands in the box as a relaxed and confident hitter. He has some strength in his hands and when he cuts down his swing, he can bang quite a bit. He has good bat speed and is strong enough to miss the barrel and still find the outfield grass. With more discipline and pitch recognition skills, he could be a solid college hitter. Behind the plate Kornberg has solid skills too, primarily as a receiver and as a competitor. He sits well and presents a nice target and also put in good effort to block balls in the dirt. He plays hard and works hard behind the plate. His pop times were consistent but will have to get faster to be competitive at the college level, though he does have a pretty quick arm. He is a solid student and clearly loves to play the game. Seems like the type of player and competitor that thrives in the college game, if he is at the right level.
