KC Fall Softball Scouting Combine Afternoon Session
Ella Sand is a 5'7, class of 2024, OF from Redfield, IA who attends West Central Valley HS. Ella is a talented young player who has a sound skill set that should project to the next level as her career continues. She ran an elite 3.13 20-yard dash with an equally impressive 1,05 5-yard split. Ella is a primary outfielder and her quick twitch and obvious athleticism plays extremely well on the grass. She has easy and sure actions. Her first step quickness is off the charts good. She positions confidently and plays through the fielding action with plus, controlled momentum. Timing to field is advanced. Transition is smooth and easy. Her elite 61-mph throws are firm, hold their plane, and are spot on accurate. College ready defensive ability, right now! Ella also has a great approach at the plate. She has an outstanding idea concerning the bunt game and with her speed, this tool should be a big part of her offense moving forward. She is balanced at the ready. She has an easy and quiet approach. Soft stride and a quick trigger. She has a flatter bat path that is lightening quick, She gets to and through contact with force and has a feel for the barrel. She has LOUD gap-to-gap pop, that shows some emerging power that should continue to develop. One thing for sure.....speed will always play and she has a natural ability to run. A blur! Ella has all the skills that college coaches look for in a top-of-the-order hitter and an elite defender. Should she continue to improve her skills with a dedicated effort and get into the weight room and add some strength, she should be able to choose the program to continue her academic and athletic careers. Her positive body language says that Ella will follow through and reach her goals!
