2023 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event
Joevansky Velez is a 2025 SS with a 6-3 182 lb. frame from Arecibo, PR. Excellent frame with long limbs, wiry strength and solid athletic actions and more physicality to come. Ran the 60-yard dash in 7.48 seconds. Primary position infielder, working the glove out front and in the middle of the body. Clean glove work and solid footwork putting him in good position to make plays. Understands angles and the position. Deliberate transfer into very over-the-top air angle creating throws up to 80 mph across the diamond with decent carry and accuracy. Left handed hitter, working from a narrow stance and open base well balanced to start. Very quick cadence to his pre-pitch load and uses significant hand load to get to launch. Hands are loose through the zone creating good leverage and real bat speed to impact. Best bolts were to the pull side when on plane and on time. Solid hit tool present with more to come with added strength. Outstanding student as well.
