Ari Sternshein is a 2023 2B/RHP with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from Orange, CA who attends Villa Park HS. Ari is a athletically skilled player who shows talent as a two-way player who can also swing the bat. In addition to his noted ability on the field, Ari is also a high achiever in the classroom. He ran a 7.62 60 yard dash. A primary second baseman, Ari shows a sound overall defensive skill set. He is very deliberate and measured with is approach. His fielding actions are sound. He positions well and plays through the fielding operation with some momentum. His glove work is pure and his 76 mph throws show solid carry and consistent accuracy. Ari also took a turn on the mound. He uses a longer takeaway and and an extended finish on delivery. He shows a little old-school drop and drive in and with his lower half mechanics and that action serves him well. He pitches off his well commanded 76-78 mph fastball that could play up a little because of the deception created my his mechanical operation. His 72 mph change up is a mature pitch. The change holds its plane to the plate and then tumbles late. His 69 mph slider is more cutter-like in shape and has a sharp late, quick break almost right at the dish. Ari is another athletic guy who pitches as a secondary option. His future lies as an everyday plyer. That being said, he has a pretty good feel for the mound. Ari is also a hitter and his ability with the stick helps separate him from a lot of his peers. He starts with a narrow, fairly upright and relaxed stance. There is a lot of leverage in and with his swing. There are signs of plus strength in his hands. He gets his barrel to and through contact with force and drives the ball from gap to gap. He shows a great idea with his swing and it works for him. There is a lot to like about Ari's game. With one year of HS ball under his belt, he is ready to take off. His skill set is evident and his future is bright.
