Javian Ovalles is a 2022 RHP/OF with a 6-3 180 lb. frame from Chester, NY who attends Don Bosco Prep. Large, square shouldered frame with along, projectable build and room to fill throughout. Rana 7.50 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher, low leg lift at start of delivery, utilizes a short stride coming down the mound and maintains a compact arm action through the back, working to a three-quarters release point. Attacked hitters and showed the ability to work to both sides of the plate with fastball that topped out at 78 mph. Flashed a curveball up to 63 mph and can continue to incorporate off speed more often, mixed a splitter as well up to 68 mph. Fields the ball out front in the outfield with two hands, works on top of throws with a short arm action and lower slot, will continue to refine overall actions, shows some accuracy to the plate. Right-handed hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate with a slightly open stance; weight starts on backside, can continue to incorporate additional shift moving into contact. Upper body dominant and handsy swing, works on a mostly linear plane through the zone, gets closed moving into contact while showing a long swing path. Good student.
