2025 PG High School All State Select Championship (26-27 Grads)
Derek Wilson is a 2027 OF/LHP/1B with a 5-10 168 lb. frame from Mesa, AZ who attends Red Mountain. Lean athletic build with plenty of room to keep getting stronger. 6.61 runner in the sixty. Primary outfielder on defense, very aggressive to the ball, carries his momentum into his throws, quick release with a fast arm and plenty of arm strength, potential center field tools. Left handed hitter, sets up in an open upright stance with a hanging leg raise load, can be late getting his foot down at times, nice rhythm in his hands, has quick hands and good bat speed when turning on the ball, best when the foot is down and he's being aggressive. Also pitched, works from the stretch from the third base side of the rubber, high energy delivery with a compact arm action and lower arm slot. Fastball topped out at 84 mph with late running life, threw his fastball to both sides of the plate. Short and sharp slider and fading change up both had some feel and quality and showed the ability to mix. Reliever mechanics with a starter's mix on the mound. Very good student. Named to the PG High School All-State Select Championships Top Prospect List.
