Xander Gutierrez is a 2021 RHP/2B with a 5-10 235 lb. frame from La Feria, TX who attends La Feria Alternative. Recorded a 8.02 second sixty-yard dash time. Medium frame with thick lower half and some present strength. Primary right-handed pitcher; fairly simple delivery with side-step rocker into a high leg lift, drop and drive lower half mechanics and a compact three-quarters arm slot. Fills up the zone with full three-pitch mix, sequencing well to disrupt hitters timing effectively. Fastball worked in the mid-to-upper 70s, topping out at 80 mph with occasional arm-side run to it. Changeup is better secondary at present, flashing similar arm speed and some sink to the arm-side. Mixed in slower curveball with high 11-5 shape to it and short depth. Secondary infielder with deliberate footwork into and through the fielding process, bending at the waist to field it deep. Recorded arm strength up to 76 mph across the diamond in drills. Right-handed hitter that hits from an open stance with a forward, tight hand set and high back elbow. Incorporates a leg lift trigger for timing, using rotational lower half mechanics to create some leverage out in front. Slightly elongated swing path with some feel for the barrel and raw power potential to the pull-side. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments.
