Matt Gorham is a 2022 LHP/1B with a 5-10 235 lb. frame from Murrieta, CA who attends Vista Murrieta HS. Matt shows commendable ability on the field. He is also a sound achiever in the classroom. He ran a 8.48 60 yard dash. A primary LHP, Matt employs a very simple operation. His low three-quarters slot and slingy arm action add to his deception. He pitches off his 72-74 mph fastball that has natural arm side run and sink. He pitches primarily to the arm side edge. His 67 mph curveball is more sweeper in shape. He works that to both edges well. His 66 mph change up shows tumble and some depth at the dish. He has a pretty good understanding of his pitching ability. Matt also took a turn at 1B. His actions play well there. His glove work is routine and his 67 mph throws are firm and accurate. At the plate, Matt shows sound ability to swing the bat. He is shorter to contact and his operation is consistent. He can strike the baseball with authority when his timing is right. He flashed some raw power also. Not bad with the bat. Matt has a solid fundamental base. His last two high school years are vitally important to his future. His attention to detail on the field and a dedication to the weight room are paramount.
