Hayston Maples is a 2023 1B/RHP, 2B, 3B, SS with a 5-11 165 lb. frame from Waverly, TN who attends Waverly Central. He ran a 7.57 second sixty. A primary first baseman with a medium build. At first base he showed developing actin with the double play feeds as he worked quick to the ball with a high energy release on the throws. In the outfield he received the ball with two hands between the legs stopping his momentum as he transitions into the throw with a longer arm action showing younger arm strength. On the mound he works down the mound with a shorter stride to a mid three-quarters release as he stuck mostly with the fastball in the 58-62 mph range while mixing in a curveball your young traits. Right-handed hitter, starts even with a small weight shift onto the back side before throwing the barrel at the ball with a mostly level bat path impacting the ball mostly to the middle of the field with more power to come from the lower half as he continues to develop. Very good student.
