Nicholas Smith is a 2021 RHP/3B with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Chicago, IL who attends Taft. Primary right-handed pitcher with a tall and slender frame, starting from the windup with a small side step into a leg lift that reaches just above the belt. Has tall and fall actions down the mound, landing online with good direction and extension over the front side. Has a short and compact arm stroke from an over the top slot, generating some downward plane to the fastball up to 83 miles per hour. Has developing feel to spin a curveball with 11-5 shape and depth through the zone at 67 miles per hour. Change-up has late-fading action in the upper-60s and he shows good feel for strikes with the entire three-pitch mix. Good student.
