Wes Barnett is a 2023 OF/RHP, 1B with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Broomfield, CO who attends Legacy. Medium, square shouldered frame with long limbs and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout. Ran an 8.26 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, takes long strides moving towards the ball, fields the ball out front with two hands, overall actions will continue to develop, full arm action on throws, occasionally gets under the ball at release. Also pitched, graded out best on the mound; worked exclusively out of the stretch, leg lift up to belt; similar full arm action through the back working to a three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 75 mph, best when extended out front, shows life to arm side, tends to stride open coming down the mound; curveball shows 11-5 shape with depth when on top and flashed a splitter in mid-60s. Lefthanded hitter, begins with an open stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Swings with intent, incorporates lower half well into movements, works to all fields with contact. Short finish through point of contact with a longer path through the zone, has tools to improve upon. Very good student.
