Jacob Ross is a 2021 RHP/1B/OF with a 6-3 180 lb. frame from Prince George, BC who attends College Heights Secondary. Taller frame with longer limbs and beginnings of strength. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a rock step to medium leg lift delivery. Created coil on back side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Clean arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball generating solid sink through the zone with some jump on the upper 70's, topped at 80 mph. Showed both a slider and curveball offering. Slider generated tight spin out of hand with late sweep to glove side in the low 70's. Curveball showed 12/6 shape with solid spin and depth in the mid 60's. Consistently changed speeds and located all pitches within the zone. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing deliberate footwork while closing to and working through the baseball. Funnels out front and worked through exchange with an extended arm circle. Released from a high three-quarters slot generating occasional carry to the bag at 77 mph. Right handed hitter with an even, balanced stance and simple leg lift trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose hand path to contact with a line drive barrel plane through extension. Showed developing feel for the barrel while utilizing a mid field approach. Showed best jump off the barrel when connecting with baseball out front. Good student.
