Ataru Matsui is a 2020 OF/ with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Arakawa, TK who is an international free agent. Medium physical build. Worked behind the plate, works from a low set, developing quickness out of the crouch. Throws down to second base live around the bag. Arm strength has plenty of room to improve. Posted a 2.13 second pop time. At the plate, is a handsy hitter that uses multiple hand pumps in his load. Still understanding his timing mechanism with a mid-leg kick trigger. Not much weight shift with his lower half, hands do the majority of the work. Is at his best when his hands work inside and stay linear through the zone. Some solid pop when he finds barrel.
