Jason Arevalo is a 2022 C/2B with a 5-6 128 lb. frame from Moreno Valley, CA who attends Moreno Valley. Compact frame with a lean build. Projects for additional strength. Primary catcher with a slightly taller, side set stance while receiving the baseball. Receives the baseball out front and gained ground towards the bag while working out of crouch. Loose glove circle at exchange and released from a three-quarters slot. Throws produced some on line carry to the bag topping at 68 mph, best workout pop time of 2.38. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing aggressive footwork while surrounding the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling and worked through exchange efficiently. Created good momentum towards the bag while releasing from a three-quarters slot. Throws produced occasional on line carry to the bag topping at 71 mph. Right handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and simple front side trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Direct hand path to baseball and stayed inside contact well with a line drive barrel plane. Flashed good feel for the barrel and looked to utilize a mid field approach. Very good student.
