Joey Pena is a 2020 LHP/1B/OF with a 6-0 164 lb. frame from Chula Vista, CA who attends Otay Ranch. Medium athletic build with room to get stronger. Side step rocker delivery, gets closed well over the rubber, deep straight separation in back, cross body landing and delivery out front, smooth and fluid throughout. Fastball topped out at 71 mph, has been up to 75 at PG tournaments this summer, gets nice running life most of the time and can turn it over more for more life. Primary fastball pitcher, mixed in some 2-plane curveballs. Showed a change up between innings but not to hitters. Will need to mix more ideally to keep hitters off balance. Was effective with his deception and fastball life. Right handed hitter, high elbow load with a barrel wrapped start, long swing, creates some barrel whip but length leaves him late frequently. 7.38 runner, low throwing slot from the outfield with good fundamental footwork through the ball and into his release.
