2019 Gulf Coast Prospect Showcase
Alberto Torres-Maldonado is a 2022 SS/RHP with a 6-0 148 lb. frame from Ocean Springs, MS who attends Ocean Springs. Flashed an average frame with an athletic build and room to fill down the road. Ran a 7.50 second sixty yard dash. Primary Shortstop who showed a raw tool set working well through the baseball. Worked out front with the glove as he showed clean transfers with an accurate arm to compliment the flashy glove. Secondary Righthanded pitcher who showed a balanced look with a high leg kick and drive. Threw from a somewhat upright top half while he found the zone consistently. His fastball showed some sink to it sitting in the low-70's while he mixed in a slurvy curveball in the low-60's. Righthanded hitter who started spread out with a closed off front side. Flashed some weight transfer while letting everything get deep before showing a middle away approach. He also used a linear swing path looking to square up the baseball. Outstanding Student.
