Colby Willey is a 2022 OF/RHP/1B with a 6-2 195 lb. frame from Dagsboro, DE who attends Indian River. Recorded a 5.12 second forty-yard dash time. Long, square shouldered frame with some present lower half strength and room to add strength. Primary outfielder that uses anticipatory actions into the fielding process, clean glove actions to field and fairly smooth transition into the throwing motion. Maintains momentum fairly well through release, delivering online, accurate throws up to 78 mph during drills. Secondary right-handed pitcher that worked exclusively from the stretch. Starts with a high hand set, working down the slope with a slide step move towards home plate. Fastball worked in the low-to-mid 70s for the duration of his outing, topping out at 76 mph from a side-arm slot. Developing command of the strike zone, sinking and cutting the fastball to all four quadrants. Mixed in sweeping breaking ball that varied in shape, flashing horizontal tilt to it when thrown with conviction. Left-handed hitter that hits from a slightly open stance with a high, flat hand set and high back elbow. Incorporates no stride, weight shift back towards the catcher to create rhythm. Contact oriented stroke with inside-out swing path, developing feel for the barrel and some ability to impact the baseball. Middle-to-opposite field approach due to barrel path, creating occasional line drives when on-time. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and additional strength. Excellent Student.
