Nicholas Alvernaz is a 2022 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-0 195 lb. frame from Horseheads, NY who attends Horseheads. Medium frame with strongly built lower half and some room to physically mature. Primary left-handed pitcher; full windup delivery with small side-step rocker, chest high leg lift and good lower half usage down the slope. Fastball worked in the mid-70s for the duration of his outing, topping out at 77 mph from a high three-quarters arm slot. Developing command with some life to the fastball, will continue to improve as he refines his mechanics and smoothes its movements out. Exhibits good downhill plane when in-sync, generating awkward swings when in the zone. Mixed in developing changeup that causes some disruption to hitters timing occasionally, will need to garner more speed differential to enhance its effectiveness. Solid components present with room to improve and add more velocity. Good Student.
