2021 Pitcher/Catcher Showcase
Lukas Cheris is a 2022 C/IF with a 6-0 190 lb. frame from Glencoe, IL who attends New Trier Township. Primary catcher with a wide base and high set up, tends to stand straight up to throw. Longer wind up after the transfer, developing hand quickness and arm strength. Gains good ground and stays in line with second base well. Segmented actions and developing fundamentals, will improve as he stays low throughout the process. Recorded a 2.31 second pop time at 73 mph. Shifts his weight to the center of the pitch well, did a nice job of blocking off speed. Right-handed hitter with a wide base and even stance. Loads the hands deep into an arm bar and utilizes a leg lift trigger. Keeps the arms stiff throughout, cuts the swing off at times. Present bat speed, produced solid contact with some lift when squared. Found the barrel multiple times and put together a nice performance during live at bats. Good student.
