Matthew Schwark is a 2020 C/OF with a 5-10 155 lb. frame from Freehold, NJ who attends Howell. Medium, square shouldered frame with a lean and projectable build, has room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.81 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, higher set behind the plate, receives the ball out front, short arm action with a clean release, young footwork and can incorporate lower half into release, around the bag with throws, overall arm strength will continue to develop. Fields the ball out front in the outfield, utilizes a short crow hop and can use additional lower half, deliberate tempo to actions, on top of throws from a longer release point. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow in the box, uses a leg lift trigger for timing in the box. Upper body dominant swing, keeps hands inside the ball throughout and remains short to and through contact. Showed comfort to work to the opposite field with line drive contact, can incorporate additional extension to swing, bat speed projects with additional physical strength. Excellent student.
