Austin Smith is a 2021 MIF with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Mauriceville, TX who attends Little Cypress-Mauriceville. Large frame with good strength on athletic build; ran 60 yard dash in 7.39 seconds. Hits from narrow-based stance, feet very close together in set, leg lift trigger with quiet land, swing works up, wants to get the ball in the air pull-side, projects well in terms of power with current approach, showed impact into pullside gap. Worked out in the infield, swivels hips well and moves athletically, good balance with range to both sides, hands solid out front, fields cleanly and works through, clocked up to 76 mph on throws across the diamond. Very good student.
