Joseph Elwell is a 2021 RHP with a 6-7 180 lb. frame from Commerce Township, MI who attends Walled Lake Northern. Primary right-handed pitcher with a tall and slender frame that has room to fill out and add strength. Works exclusively from the stretch, taking a long stride down the mound with developing consistency to the lower half direction. Has a crooked arm action in the back, coming through from a high three-quarter slot before falling slightly to the glove side at finish. Fastball gets some natural cutting action at 77-80 miles per hour and really deceptive while getting on hitters quick. Shows a mid-70s cutter with developing command of the strike zone and has an upper-60s curveball with 11-5 shape. Right-handed hitter with an even base and a long path to contact. Has a high back elbow with developing barrel control and feel. Takes big swings with intent. Good student.
