Matt Nestlerode is a 2008 RHP/C with a 6'3'', 185 lb. frame from Thousand Oaks, CA, who attends Oaks Christian HS. Named to the Top Prospect Team. Nestlerode has a nice frame with long limbs that make him very projectable. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot. His arm works well with good arm speed, and he has solid mechanics. Nestlerode threw a fastball in the 84-87 mph range, and he projects to throw harder in the near future. He maintains his velocity out of the stretch and through his 3 innings of work. He gets good spin and depth on his curveball, and he keeps his arm speed on his changeup giving him solid secondary pitches. Nestlerode also showed his arm strength behind plate with accurate throws and the ability to handle pitchers. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with bat speed through the zone. He gets leverage in his swing that give him power potential for the future. He takes a short stride, and has a nice swing. He is a two-way prospect that is a must follow. Great student as well.
