Paul Genna is a 2023 SS/C with a 5-6 128 lb. frame from Newtown, CT who attends Fairfield College Preparatory. Young, square shouldered frame with a lean, projectable build and room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.94 60-yard dah. Primary shortstop, does a nice job of getting low behind the ball and fields it out front, works into a longer arm action, takes long strides moving towards the ball, works on top of throws and shows accuracy, arm strength will continue to develop on throws. Begins with a lower set behind the plate and receives the ball out front, quick transfer and release on throws, works around the bag and repeats actions, can implement additional lower half into release. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow in the box with a bent knee stance; utilizes a short leg lift trigger for timing, can implement additional lower half into weight shift. Upper body dominant swing, stays direct to the ball with hands, linear swing plane through the zone with a longer path; contact oriented approach, able to work to all fields. Very good student.
