Michael Matthews is a 2021 SS/RHP with a 6-1 145 lb. frame from Ft Myers, FL who attends Estero. Slender athletic build, lots of room and time to get stronger. 7.11 runner, shows good athleticism at on the left side on defense, moves well laterally and showed the ability to make a play off his feet, has a loose and projectable arm that will continue to gain strength. Right handed hitter, hits from a slightly open stance with a short inside swing approach, mid field to opposite field swing approach. Glove and athleticism are ahead of his bat at present until he gets stronger. Also pitched, has simple repeatable mechanics, has a loose and whippy arm stroke. Worked about 50/50 between his fastball and change up, tunnels them well and gets consistent run and sink, works quickly and pounds the strike zone. Good student.
