Evan Okamoto is a 2019 RHP/1B, 2B, 3B, UT with a 6-1 155 lb. frame from Piscataway, NJ who attends Piscataway Twp. Tall frame with longer limbs and a lean build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple rock step to high leg lift delivery. Stays slightly flexed on back side at gather and worked to the plate with drop and drive actions. Lands slightly open on front side while working to the plate. Deep arm circle and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Fastball came out of hand cleanly creating occasional downhill plane and run in the low to mid 70's, topped at 75 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with loose spin and some depth in the low 60's. Tends to slow arm speed slightly with breaking ball offering. Also flashed a cutter that generated some tight tilt to glove side in the upper 60's. Looked to work the bottom quadrants of the zone with developing feel to the edges of the plate. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing smooth paced, deliberate footwork while surrounding the baseball. Funnels from a slightly deeper position and worked through exchange with loose actions. Created accurate carry to the bag at release topping at 75 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a crouched, slightly open stance and simple front side trigger. Stays on back side and works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose hand path to baseball with a line drive barrel plane through extension. Showed best contact when creating separation at contact and working to the middle of the field and opposite field gap. Very good student as well.
