Javier Rodriguez is a 2022 C with a 5-6 140 lb. frame from Jamaica Plain, MA who attends Eonrenberger. Young, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.31 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, begins with a compact set behind the plate, true actions and receives the ball out front, can continue to implement additional lower half into release, gets on top of throws, remains compact with arm action through release and worked around the bag, arm strength will continue to develop. Righthanded hitter, begins with a slightly open and tall stance with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Utilizes a toe tap trigger for timing at the plate; loads hands back at start but shows quickness and stays compact with path. Linear swing path through the zone and creates extension out front, simple swing with some present feel for the barrel while working to the pull side. Good student.
