Seth Hoffman is a 2022 1B/RHP, C, 3B, OF with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Marshall, MO who attends Marshall.Medium, athletic frame with a higher waist and some present strength to frame, additional room to grow moving forward. Ran a 7.80 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman, fields the ball out front and stays low moving towards it off the bag and throughout actions, hands play out front, arm strength will continue to develop. Compact setup from behind the plate, receives out front, footwork will continue to refine in gaining ground, around the bag with throws. Takes shorter steps moving towards the ball in the outfield, funnels into a compact arm action with a tight release and higher slot, gets on top of throws well. Also pitched, rock step moving into delivery, gets tall on backside with a short leg lift below belt; similar compact arm action working to a three-quarters release point. Deliberate tempo to mechanics, on line stride, able to generate some sinking life on fastball down in zone and topped out at 71 mph. Worked around the zone with fastball and flashed a changeup at 66 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with an even stance and a low handset and back elbow at the plate. Upper body dominant swing, shows a simple swing with a full finish through point of contact. Carries hands low through swing and stays short to the ball, best contact when working on a linear plane, can work the opposite field with line drive contact. Good student.
