2006 Southeast Underclass Showcase
Jerry Dee (JD) McBride is a 2010 C/P/3B with a 5'10'', 165 lb. frame from Southaven, Mississippi, who attends DeSoto Central High School. McBride is a very young player with a medium frame and is projectable. Defensively he showed some position flexibility being able to play behind the plate as well as in the infield. He has solid arm strength for his age with a short arm action. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from an upright stance with an average base, and he uses a no stride approach. He shows projectable power for a 2010 player. McBride centers the ball well, and showed the ability to hit the ball from gap to gap. On the mound he has short arm action with online and balanced delivery. He throws a 61 mph curveball for strikes with 12 to 6 depth, and his fastball topped out at 72 mph. He gets a good downward angle on his pitches as well. A good student.
