Derrick Geist is a 2022 3B/2B with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Broomfield, CO who attends Broomfield HS. Medium and young frame with room to fill and time to do so. Ran a 7.70 second 60 yard dash. Primary third baseman, took reps in the infield with a clean funnel while bending at the waist, moves to it with short steps fielding it out in front, takes a short arm action into his quick release, developing arm strength and accurate to the first base bag. Righthanded hitter, sets up at the plate with an open stance, loads hands in a high position before dipping them into swing, rotational actions to swing with young bat speed, could utilize more lower half involvement for added pop off of the barrel as well as bat speed, looks to lift the baseball. Outstanding student.
