Anthony Gross is a 2020 LHP with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Cypress, TX who attends Cy-Fair. Primary left-handed pitcher with a larger frame and some present strength. Starts from the windup with a small side step into a belt high leg lift, coiling the hips at gather. Utilizes drop and drive actions down the mound before landing slightly closed while maintaining good extension over the front side. Has a long and loose arm action and fast arm before coming from a high three-quarter slot with some body tilt at release point. Attacks hitters in the zone with a fastball at 81-85 miles per hour, though it does stay straight at times. Shows feel to spin a curveball with a 1-to-7 shape and big depth at 70 miles per hour. Has streaky feel for the strike zone, showing the ability to land pitches for strikes for batters when the delivery is consistent and on time. Gross starts open with a big load and shift in to closed, showcasing a middle of the field, line drive approach. Present strength allows for flashes of power at times, showing more pop to the pull side. Excellent student. Named to 2019 South Prospect Showcase, Top Prospect List.
