Kase James is a 2022 1B/LHP with a 5-10 185 lb. frame from Duquoin, IL who is homeschooled. Medium, broad shouldered build with present strength to frame, additional room to fill and grow moving forward. Ran an 8.61 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman, fields the ball out front with some bend at the waist, short steps coming off the bag with footwork that will continue to refine, shorter arm stroke on throw, developing arm strength and shows accuracy across. Also pitched, balanced delivery with a slight turn step into a leg lift up to belt, shorter arm stroke through the back with extension out front from a three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 68 mph, short sinking life, shows comfort working to arm side; flashed curveball at 63 mph with 12-6 shape. Lefthanded hitter, begins with an even stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Upper body dominant swing with a full path through the zone. Occasionally gets to front side early but does a nice job of creating extension out front. Comfort working to pull side, shows back spin off the barrel when on time and squared. Very good student.
