Lucas Soto is a 2021 LHP with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Key West, FL who attends Key West High School. Young, medium frame with square shoulders and some strength to frame, additional room to grow and develop moving forward. Primary lefthanded pitcher, up-tempo delivery with a big rock step into a high leg lift trigger above the belt; full arm action through the back working to a three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 69 mph, maintained out of the stretch and showed ability to work to either side of the plate and induced ground ball contact off the bat. Curveball shows 12-6 shape with depth, able to change the shape of the pitch and mix. Righthanded hitter, begins with a slightly open stance and gets wide; looks to create lift at the point of contact, selective approach, occasionally gets out on front side early.
