Kevin Seaver is a 2006 3B/MIF from Waiakea HS, residing in Volcano, HI with a 6'0" 190 lb. frame. Seaver has an athletic body type, a good lower half, and is well proportioned. On offense Seaver loads easily with his hands and those hands do show promise with the bat. He has some bat speed and flashes some rhythm. He is a fly ball hitter with the ball leaving his bat with a trajectory to suggest gap power and maybe a little more. Seaver is most comfortable going to the pull side but because he is aggressive he can drive ball to right when pitched on the outer half. That happens because he pushes his hands away from him as he moves to the ball. To be most successful with the bat, Seaver must be good at anticipating the location of the pitch and then commiting to attacking that zone. He is a 7.40 runner. On defense Seaver gets to and through the ball pretty well. He has a good idea and approach to defense and makes enough plays, while just missing making others, to suggest that he can be a very solid defender, likely at the 3B position. Seaver has a fairly quick release and like on offense, his hands show some promise on the defensive side. He showed himself to be very good to the backhand. Seaver is a heady player and seemed to be alert on defense. He went after pop ups well and overall, his defensive skills fit 3B well. He will play somewhere in college and has good base abilities. It is likely that he would have his best chance for success and development by starting at the JC level to get those extra thousands of repititions over two years.
