Joshua Schmidt is a 2023 C/RHP/IF with a 5-8 145 lb. frame from Florence, KY who attends Beechwood. Medium frame with slender looking proving to have some room to fill out physically in the future. Ran a 7.88 second sixty yard dash. Primary Catcher, sits low and athletically in his stance. Clean glove as he receives it deep. Compact arm action on throw downs as he was accurate to the bag. Recorded a 2.38 second pop time. Fundamentally sound and projects well at the position. Secondary Right-Handed Pitcher, proving to have repeatable mechanics as he filled up the strikezone. Releases from a three-quarter slot while showing a long arm action. Fastball showing slight cut as he ran it up to 69 mph and flashed feel in lower half of zone with it. Right-Handed Hitter, starting from a tall stance while slightly open with the front side. High elbow before working into separation as the hands sink. Looks to drive the baseball the other way and was able to pull the baseball low and hard when he got the bat head out front. Outstanding Student.
