2023 Florida Workout Showcase (Friday)
James Spencer is a 2025 SS/2B with a 5-8 155 lb. frame from Ponte Vedra, FL who attends Allen D Nease. A medium frame and build with some athleticism. Also had strength present in the build. Ran a 6.96 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop who had some strength to his throws with good accuracy across the infield at 85 mph. Had softer hands with a clean exchange working into a compact arm action through release. Had a clean backhand and moved well laterally up the middle with athletic actions. A right-handed hitter with an even base and slightly open feet. Had higher-set hands and a high-back elbow. Uses a leg lift trigger before striding forward. Was able to work on the barrel during his round of BP and produced some solid line drives back up the middle. Has some physicality to his look in the box and is able to stay on plane with pitches and work back up the middle for his best results. Good student.
