Colby Wooten is a 2019 C/RHP, UT with a 5-9 185 lb. frame from Alpine, TX who attends Alpine. Large build with some present strength to lower half. Ran a 8.00 second 60 yard dash. Primary catcher, sits deep in crouch standing up into throws slightly early, front side flies open at times causing arm to drag and making it hard to gain ground, developing arm strength down to the bag, 2.19 second best pop. Also pitched, short side step to belt high leg lift, short arm action up to a high 3/4 arm slot, bends over into take back, would like to see stay tall on back side, throws easy with little effort, challenged hitters with fastball that was mostly straight, good feel for curveball with short break. Righthanded hitter, narrow base with a slightly open stance, small leg lift trigger into swing, downhill swing plane, rotational groundball approach, best when squared to pull side. Good student.
