2022 Spring Midwest Workout Showcase (April 22)
Zain Sauer is a 2023 3B/RHP/OF with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Olin, IA who attends Midland. Recorded a 6.95 second sixty yard dash time, showcasing good speed. Medium frame with a compact and sturdy build, has present strength. Primary third baseman with solid feel for the glove and footwork, gets into good fielding positions. Segmented actions with some stiffness present, clean round overall and has room to improve. Also worked out in the outfield, fields it off the front foot and takes multiple steps into release, can work through the ball more and carry his momentum forward into the throw. Right-handed hitter with a wide base and a bent knee stance, has a high back elbow set and a deep hand load. Utilizes a leg lift trigger, looks to elevate and has a pull side approach. Fires the hips well and has strength in the swing, shows quick hands and an uphill bat path with some pop to the pull side. Great student.
