Matthew Pizzelli is a 2019 LHP/1B with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from Hingham, MA who attends Xaverian Brothers. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a projectable build with present strength and additional room to fill moving forward. Ran a 7.57 60-yard dash. Primary lefthanded pitcher, works with a short arm stroke through the back side getting to a high three-quarters release and ball comes out of hand easy. Gets slightly across body at release but shows rhythm and ability to finish with release, occasional cut action to fastball down in the zone. Up to 76 mph, will continue to develop consistent release point. Able to induce weak contact when down in the zone and flashed a 1-7 shaped curveball at 65 mph. Hands work at first base well fielding the ball out front, clean actions and works behind the ball nicely, reads hops well, accurate throws across the diamond. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a square stance and utilizes a toe tap trigger for timing. Upper body dominant swing and lowers hands at start of swing; employs a contact oriented approach at the plate. Shows ability to work to all fields with most comfort to the pull side, linear swing path through the zone. Good student.
