Ryne Meriel is a 2020 SS/RHP/C with a 5-5 135 lb. frame from Lindenhurst, IL who attends Carmel Catholic HS. Small build, compact frame with plenty of growing still to do. Ran a 7.82 second 60 yard dash. Primary shortstop, stays low to ground into gather, quick actions with good footwork throughout, good range up the middle, gets around ball well, release could be quicker but plays with intent, loose arm into throws with carry, average arm strength topping out at 77 mph. Also took reps behind the plate, stays low in crouch, smaller gain but everything is quick twitch, ball comes out well, full arm action, 1.96 second best pop. Righthanded hitter, hands curl at load, would like to see a weight shift implemented into swing, flat barrel plane, rotational swing staying down and behind the ball at contact, middle of the field approach. Good student.
