Daniel Mendez is a 2022 C/RHP, 3B, MIF with a 5-6 154 lb. frame from Hialeah, FL who attends Hialeah Educational Academy. Small and stocky frame with plenty of growing still to do. Ran an 8.29 second 60 yard dash. Primary catcher, sets up in an athletic stance ready to come through the baseball, footwork comes through the baseball well and will get quicker with time, transfer gets a bit long at times, plenty of effort into release with momentum towards the bag, average arm strength at this that will likely continue to improve with maturity, 1.97 second best pop time. Secondary infielder, fields the baseball out in front, gains ground to the bag into his release, footwork and hands play, sidearm slot, topped out at 76 mph from across the diamond. Also pitched, mostly clean delivery, quick arm action, low effort at release, worked both sides of the plate with good command of fastball up to 74 with armside life. Righthanded hitter, even base, longer stride into contact, weight sits on backside, could implement a weight shift into swing for more pop off of the barrel, deep bar at load leading to a flat bat path. Good student.
